Finishing Touch

Art of Football

It was the 4th year running that Ipswich had made the play-offs but 2000 was the first time they had reached the final. And what a Wembley classic it was. Ipswich looked favourites but a Barnsley penalty in the 78th minute pulled it back to 3-2 and nerves were jangling. Step forward substitute Martijn Reuser who ran on to a through ball and rocketed a terrific shot into the roof of the net. It was the 90th minute and the finishing touch to a great game. The Tractor Boys were back in the top division.
