Shirt Story: This was as close as Nike came to a 70s throwback kit for Arsenal.
Without the indulgent trappings of a modern football shirt, the 2010 shirt represented decades of history distilled into one design. There’s something quite appropriate about having Wilshere’s name on the back of this particular kit too.
Wilshere enjoyed a breakout season in 2010/11, making 49 appearances at the age of just 18. Unfortunately his career would never reach the anticipated heights, but his years at Arsenal remain a symbol of one of the purest elements of our game today; a young academy product, breaking into the first team, making a name for himself, as many would have done in the 1970s whilst wearing remarkably similar shirts to the 2010/11 home shirt.
