Things to look out for:

Some football shirts are immortalised by a particular team at a particular tournament. Other shirts are immortalised by a specific player who played in that team. Other shirts still are immortalised by a memorable goal scored by the specific player on that particular team.

We don’t need to tell you about the moment that made this shirt famous, do we?

Dennis Bergkamp had a penchant for scoring spectacular goals, but his wonder strike against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup ranks as one of the greatest World Cup goals. As legendary as the goal itself was the commentary from Dutch commentator Jack van Gelder. In an immense outpouring of emotion, Bergkamp’s 90th minute winner was greeted with repeated cries of the striker’s name, producing a commentary moment for the ages.

The 1998 Netherlands home shirt signalled a new direction for Nike and football shirts in general. Out went the busy patterns of the earlier part of the decade, and in came sleeker designs which focused more on form and construction. Despite the relatively plain aesthetic, the Holland kit was undoubtedly one of the best shirts at the ‘98 World Cup. Few things are better than the eternal orange colour scheme.
